Training and careers for carers

High quality training is appreciated not just by older people and their families, but by the carers who enjoy supporting older people with confidence. Validated and accredited courses provide a clear path for carers who wish to advance their careers.

Many initiatives have been designed to improve the quality of care of older people in nursing and residential care and in the community. Some of the best (e.g. My Home Life) are focused on training and the career prospects of carers rather than just meeting National Minimum Standards. In addition patient and other organisations are now calling on government to make specialist training mandatory.

Awarding bodies with whom ElderWorld works

Awarding bodies take a leading role in the design and support of training courses and are able to award Qualifications which recognise the skills, knowledge and understanding achieved by a student. ElderWorld enjoys close relationships with a number of Universities (HEIs) and colleges of Further Education (Fes).  We work with voluntary and professional bodies and other institutions of Further recognised as awarding institutions. With the expected demise of some government organisations we welcome arrival of such bodies as the (hyperlink) National Skills Academy for Social Care.  ElderWorld has established a strategic relationship with the not-for-profit organisation HE@Work. This team of educationalists is co-ordinating accreditation with various universities linked to current regulations. www.h-e-atwork.com

Validation and accreditation

All ElderWorld courses are produced by publishing professionals with qualified authors and advisors. They are reviewed by independent experts both before and after publication to keep the content up-to-date. Knowing about the people involved in your elearning courses provides you with comfort by way of validation. You know who has created and is maintaining the course you take. Receiving a certificate of satisfactory completion is good for your care giving and career.
